Another successful Badger cleanup operation.

After a train derailment in New Mexico at the beginning of August, local Badger crews were called in to empty 9 rail cars full of cattle feed. The Badger team was able to safely and efficiently extract the rail car contents avoiding replacement costs and delays. The feed was then delivered by truck to the customer.

Badger Daylighting™: A trusted partner in damage prevention.

Badger Daylighting wants to help raise awareness for the importance of locating underground facilities before you dig. August 11 (8/11) serves as a natural reminder to call #811 for a utility locate service.

The depth of utility lines can vary for a number of reasons, such as erosion, previous digging projects and uneven surfaces. Utility lines need to be properly marked because even when digging only a few inches or digging in a location that’s previously been marked, the risk of striking an underground utility line still exists.

Damaging a single line can cause injury, repair costs, fines and inconvenient outages. The Badger hydrovac can also help accurately locate buried facilities through our hydrovac potholing service. Badger will safely create a test hole to expose underground infrastructure to determine the horizontal and vertical location of the buried facilities.

Calling for a utility locate service is the easiest step towards reducing the costly effects of buried infrastructure damage.

Worker rescued from trench in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.

Emergency crews received a well-earned round of applause after rescuing a worker from a 2.4-metre trench in Scarborough on Wednesday night. Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to Generation Boulevard and Rainbow Ridge Avenue, near Sheppard and Meadowvale, around 6 p.m. after a man working at the location became trapped in the trench. Upon arrival he was conscious and talking with firefighters, but concrete and sand was filling up the hole, creating a tense race against time.

Special equipment was brought in to aid in the rescue, and Toronto Police Const. David Hopkinson warned that the situation could turn life-threatening if the trench fully collapsed. Around 8:30 p.m. the man was pulled from the trench. The worker was taken to hospital, but police say his injuries do not appear life-threatening.
